The Miracle of Peckham

In the Only fools and horses episode, Miracle of Peckham, the following has been cut from the UK DVD, and also from TV broadcasts. These cut scenes were only present in the original 1986 broadcast.

At around 1 minute 29 seconds into the episode, after Albert’s line “you could at least say you’re sorry” the following line has been cut.

Rodney: (In a serious tone)“I am Sorry!, now can we just drop the matter

Albert: “Charming ain’t it, you fight and die for your country and that’s the thanks the younger generation gives you

The DVD then starts again at the line from Rodney “I’m sorry” in a much less harsher tone.

Later on in the same scene at around 3 mins 30 seconds, when Del and Uncle Albert are discussing Rodney’s date, after Del’s line “Krystle Carrington? Crystal bleeding palace, more like” the following is cut.

Rodney: “She did look, she did look like her actually!…. From a distance”.

Del: “Yeah that’s right, three miles and in a thick fog!

Later in the scene, at around 5 mins 25 seconds into the episode, as Del is about to leave to go to the church, the following is cut after Rodney asks Del line “I’m going to church”.

Rodney: “Come on, where are you going?

Del: “I am GOING to church

The DVD version then starts again with Rodney asking “Why?”


Another cut occurs around seven and a half minutes into the episode when Rodney is in the dustbin trying to find a trumpet. The following parts of the scene have been lost.

Text in red is cut.

Rodney: “I hate you Albert”

Rodney picks up a kipper and sniffs it.

Rodney: (Mutters) “Albert!”

The next scene then begins with Del walking in the church.

In the church scene with Del and the priest in the confessional booth, about 10 minutes into the episode, some lines have been cut.

After the priest ask if Del is a Catholic, and Del replies that he doesn’t know and states his mum was a catholic, the following lines are lost.

Priest: “I know that!, I married her… here!.. In this church. Your father wasn’t a catholic”.

Del: “I know, I know, he was a black magic man I think

The DVD then starts again here with the priest’s line “have you ever been to this church before?”

At around 20 minutes into the episode where Uncle Albert and Rodney are discussing Del and religion. After Rodney’s line “But how is he going to make money out of the church?”, the following has been cut:

Uncle Albert: “He’s got that consignment of orthopedic sandals coming soon.

Rodney: “Yeah so what?.

Uncle Albert: “Well maybe he’s got a franchise on a monastery.

Rodney: “Maybe.

Rodney sips his tea.

The DVD then starts again with the next church scene where journalists are waiting for the miracle. There are no further cuts on the DVD.
