Only Fools and Horses – Thicker Than Water

Thicker Than Water

In the Only Fools and Horses episode “Thicker than water”, a number of lines were cut after the original broadcast in 1983. The original version was only broadcast once.

This edit was made in 1984 out of respect for Lennard Pearce who died that year. The following lines are cut out of all TV broadcasts and commercial releases. The cut occurs around five minutes into the episode when Dell has just returned from the Nag’s head to find his father is in the flat.

All text in red is cut.

Del: “What do you mean judge him? He deserted you when you were five years old. And not only that, he walked out on his own father. In all that time he didn’t know whether grandad was alive or dead."

Rodney: “Well we’re never sure, are we?"

This scene is missing in every broadcast and commercial releases and is only present in original 1983 recordings. It’s also shown in Britain’s best sitcom. Since 2011 the scene has also been included in iTunes release.
